The Financial Times, citing officials, including high-ranking Ukrainian officials, claims that negotiations are underway between Ukraine and Russia to stop attacks on energy facilities.
The number of such strikes has already been reduced in recent weeks, which is allegedly the result of agreements reached by the intelligence services of the countries. At the same time, Kyiv is seeking to resume the negotiations, which, according to the media, took place in the summer under mediated by Qatar, but were interrupted after the start of the Kursk operation. Both countries recognize that it would be in their mutual interests to stop attacks on the Ukrainian energy system and Russian oil refineries.
However, Russian dictator Putin is unlikely to agree to any agreements while Ukraine controls part of the Kursk region. In order to “convince” the Kremlin, Kiev plans to continue to strike vulnerable targets on Russian territory within its capabilities.
