Man who stole defibrillator from Kyiv metro station detained in Bila Tserkva

The offender wanted to sell the device, but did not have time.

A man who stole a defibrillator from a Kiev metro station was detained in Bila Tserkva. < In the city of Bila Tserkva in the Kiev region, police detained a 38-year-old man who stole a defibrillator from a Kyiv metro station.</p>
<p>This was reported by the press service of the National Police.</p>
<p>Recently, a Kyiv metro employee contacted the police and reported the theft of an automatic defibrillator from the platform of the Universitet metro station. </p>
<p>The police established that a 38-year-old resident of the Kyiv region was involved in the theft. The perpetrator, while at the metro station, waited for the train to arrive and, taking advantage of the absence of passengers on the platform, disconnected the automatic defibrillator from its special mount and left the station. After the theft, the perpetrator went home to Bila Tserkva, where he intended to sell the stolen device.</p>

Now the man has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the stolen defibrillator has been seized, which will soon be returned to the capital's metro station.

The offender was informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code – theft committed under martial law. The penalty for this article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.

Recall that in May, at the Kyiv metro station “University”, three young men took a defibrillator out of the box unnecessarily and opened the electrodes. They had to be replaced. In addition, at the stations “Akademgorodok” and “Khreshchatyk”, the covers of the defibrillator boxes were also damaged. And at the station “Arsenalnoye”, a homeless person tried to steal the equipment.
