Secretary of the Chernihiv City Council, acting mayor, Alexander Lomako submits a letter of resignation.
He announced this in a video address.
According to him, the heads of military administrations “besieged the city”, blocked the work of kindergartens, hospitals, public transport, the allocation of aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They demand, according to Lomako, his resignation from the elected position.
Lomako also stated that “two so-called “military administrators” appointed from above have been trying to destroy local government in Chernihiv for two years in a row.
“In order to free Chernihiv from hostage, today, on the day of local government, I am submitting an application for dismissal from the post of secretary of the city council and ask that it be considered at the nearest meeting. session…”, Lomako added.
- In 2020, Lomako was elected secretary of the Chernihiv City Council. In February 2023, he was appointed acting mayor of Chernihiv instead of Vladislav Atroshenko, who was removed from office by the court. This could lead to the suspension of public transport, the closure of the hospital, and other negative consequences.
- Earlier, Lomako reported that the Servant of the People faction and a number of other deputies of the Chernihiv City Council ignored the plenary session, which is why 14 military units will not receive timely assistance from the city in the amount of UAH 38 million.
