In Transcarpathia, two border guards crossed into the territory of a neighboring country during duty and did not return. The court fined the inspector for this, who was supposed to check on the radio where his colleagues were.
This is stated in the court's decision.
The incident occurred on September 27. At that time, two border guards, residents of Sumy region, went out to patrol the border. The inspector of the State Tax Service of Ukraine was supposed to contact them every 30 minutes. However, he missed the check time and the attackers took advantage of this to escape.
The accused did not appear in court, but explained his position in writing. He said that he was unable to contact his colleagues in time that night due to his heavy workload. He could not physically prevent the escape either, because he was in the unit. The duty officer did not admit his guilt.
The court's decision states that the inspector made notes about the contact with the patrol in the border patrol's workbook, although in fact there was no contact with them. The court found the inspector guilty of negligent attitude to military service (Part 2 of Article 172-15 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses). He was fined 17 thousand hryvnia.
As reported, since the introduction of martial law, State Border Service employees have been bribed 1,253 times. The State Border Service assured that in all cases, law enforcement officers refused bribes.
