Yevgeny Korniychuk will replace Alexey Makeyev in Berlin.
Bild claims that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided to dismiss the ambassador of our state to the Federal Republic of Germany Alexey Makeyev, who has held this post since October 2022.
According to journalists, the official reason for the dismissal is the rotation of diplomats, but Bild notes regular criticism of Makeyev from his predecessor, Andriy Melnyk. The diplomat spoke quite harshly about his colleague, calling for him to “get off his ass” and get more help from the German authorities for the Ukrainian troops.
Melnyk was recently appointed as Ukraine's representative to the UN. During the major diplomatic personnel changes, Volodymyr Zelensky did not publish a decree on any changes to the embassy in Germany.
According to Bild, Makeyev will be replaced by Yevgeny Korniychuk, who is currently serving as ambassador to Israel.
