On January 27, 2025, a large-scale strike of Berlin public transport (BVG) workers will begin, which will last from 3:00 a.m. on Monday to 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, the Industrialne Zaporizhzhia website reports. This was reported by the Verdi trade union, which initiated the action due to the lack of agreements with the BVG management within the framework of the tariff dispute.
Reason for the strike
The Verdi union is demanding a monthly wage increase of 750 euros, the introduction of a 13th month salary and additional benefits for employees. Since the BVG management has not yet presented any relevant proposals, the workers have decided to go on strike.
What will stop
During the strike, many BVG transport modes will be completely paralyzed:
• Metro (U-Bahn): all lines will stop.
• Tram (Tram): all routes will stop.
• Buses: most bus routes will also be closed.
What alternatives remain
During the strike, residents and visitors to the city will be able to use other modes of transport:
• S-Bahn (city rail), regional trains and public transport services.
• Buses and ferries operated by BVG contractors, such as Muva and routes F10, F11, F12, will continue to operate.
Routes that will remain active
Certain bus routes will continue to operate even during the strike:
• Bus routes: 106, 114, 118, 124, 133, 161, 168, 175, 179, 204, 218, 234, 275, 316, 318, 320, 326, 334, 349, 359, 363, 380.
• Night routes: N12, N23, N35, N39, N53, N61, N69, N84, N91, N95, N97.
• Limited-time routes: M36, 112, 124, 184, 744, 893, N68.
