Andriy Shevchenko was included in the list of the worst transfers in football history

Legendary Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko has been ranked eighth in the worst transfers in football history, compiled by British publication GiveMeSport. He is ranked eighth on the list due to his failed deal with Chelsea when he moved from AC Milan in 2006 for £39.5 million, IZ writes.

Shevchenko's move to Chelsea was one of the biggest events of the time, initiated by the club's owner Roman Abramovich. However, the Londoners' head coach Jose Mourinho could not find a suitable role for the Ukrainian in the team. Shevchenko often played in the wrong position and could not adapt to the fast and aggressive English football, which led to a decrease in performance. In two seasons in the Premier League, he scored only 9 goals in 48 matches.

It is noted that Shevchenko's return to Milan on loan in 2008 and subsequent end of his career at Dynamo Kyiv did not change the overall assessment of his move to Chelsea. The ranking of the worst transfers is led by Belgian Eden Hazard, who moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid for 103 million pounds, but due to constant injuries could not live up to expectations.

As a reminder, we previously wrote that Ronaldo could return to Real Madrid for the Club World Cup.
