Church holiday April 9 in the new style
Saint Eupsychius lived in the city of Caesarea Cappadocia. He came from a wealthy Christian family, was pious, and married a Christian woman. During his wedding, the pagans performed sacrifices to the goddess Fortuna. Eupsychius destroyed the pagan temple, and then distributed all his property and voluntarily submitted to the court. The angry Emperor Julian executed him and also cruelly punished the entire city, depriving Caesarea of its status and name. After the emperor's death, Christians built a temple on the burial site of Eupsychius, and his relics became a source of healing.
The holy martyr Vadim lived in the 4th century in Viflapat. He founded a monastery and lived an ascetic life. During the persecution of Christians, he was captured along with seven disciples. They were tortured for several months. One of them, Prince Nirsan, renounced his faith in order to gain freedom and agreed to execute Vadim. After that, he could not stand the mental torment and committed suicide. Vadim's disciples were released after the change of power.
