Zelensky and Noboa Agree to Start Work on Free Trade Agreement

During a working visit to Argentina, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held negotiations with Ecuador’s newly elected President Daniel Noboa, during which they discussed expanding bilateral cooperation and Ecuador’s support for Ukraine in international initiatives, reports the Baltimore Chronicle, citing Facebook.

In the course of the meeting, Zelensky congratulated Noboa on his election and expressed gratitude for Ecuador’s backing of international organization resolutions condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

The parties discussed the prospects of concluding a free trade agreement and agreed to initiate work on this matter through the engagement of respective teams.

President Zelensky proposed Ecuador’s involvement in the implementation of Ukraine’s Peace Formula and invited the country to take part in the next meeting of national security and foreign policy advisors, scheduled for January 2024.

In addition, they discussed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of security, digitalization, and trade in agricultural products. Special attention was given to the potential organization of a Ukraine–Latin America summit aimed at strengthening ties between the regions. Zelensky also extended an invitation to Noboa to pay an official visit to Ukraine.
