A new meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and representatives of the aggressor state, Russia, may take place in Istanbul in the near future, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the Head of State, a meeting was held at the President’s Office to discuss the outcomes Ukraine expects from the negotiation process. Particular attention was paid to the results of previous talks with the Russian side that were held in Turkey.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, reported on the implementation of the agreements reached during the second meeting in Istanbul. He also confirmed that a new round of negotiations has been preliminarily agreed and may happen soon.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s position remains fully transparent, reiterating that the war was started by Russia and it is Russia that must bring it to an end. Ukraine, he said, has never sought war and continues to pursue peace.
The President has tasked the formation of a new delegation for the upcoming talks with the Russian side. Rustem Umerov will lead the group, which will include representatives from Ukraine’s military intelligence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the President’s Office.
