During the NATO summit in The Hague, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the possibility of joint drone production in Ukraine with the involvement of the French company Renault, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

Speaking on the French TV channel LCI, Barrot emphasized that Ukraine currently needs consistent support and military aid to counter Russian aggression. He stated that France had succeeded in mobilizing revenues from frozen Russian assets, redirecting those resources to assist Ukraine.

“It is important that we continue supporting Ukraine in building its capacity to manufacture its own equipment, and that is exactly what France will do in cooperation with Ukraine,” the minister stated.

He recalled the recent announcement of a joint drone production initiative with Renault to be launched directly in Ukraine. According to Barrot, this move is crucial, given the nature of today’s warfare, where unmanned technologies play a key role.

“This war is a war of drones. Soldiers are confronting one another using unmanned systems, and that’s why this is such an important issue — one that President Macron discussed in detail with Volodymyr Zelensky during the NATO summit earlier this week,” Barrot said.
