Zelensky met U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg in Kyiv: discussed PURL, Patriot systems, sanctions on Russia, return of children, and UN General Assembly plans.

On September 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met in Kyiv with Keith Kellogg, the special representative of the U.S. President, who arrived on an official visit. The head of state reported this on his Telegram channel, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to European Pravda.

Zelensky emphasized that the talks focused on crucial areas of cooperation, including ways to achieve genuine peace and ensure Ukraine’s security. According to him, the discussions covered projects under the PURL initiative, aimed at financing the production and procurement of Patriot air defense systems. Special attention was also given to bilateral agreements with the United States on joint production of drones and weapons, which Kyiv has already proposed to Washington. The President expressed hope for a positive U.S. response.

The negotiations also addressed strengthening pressure on Russia, particularly through tariff and sanction policies in cooperation with international partners. Zelensky highlighted the importance of organizing a meeting at the leaders’ level, noting that a trilateral format would be the most effective tool for bringing the war to an end.

Another key issue on the agenda was the return of Ukrainian children illegally taken to Russia. Zelensky said that the Ukrainian government, together with international organizations, is actively working on this track, focusing on improving conditions for the children and developing mechanisms for their return home.

The President also noted that Ukraine is preparing for the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Planned events, coordination with the United States, and cooperation within the coalition of willing partners were discussed. Work is ongoing to finalize possible meetings and various formats of interaction during the assembly.
