As NBN reports with reference to Euractiv, Pavel made a statement about this during an interview with Czech television.
So, according to the words of the Czech president, it is necessary to clearly distinguish between the deployment of combat troops and the possible involvement of troops in a certain “auxiliary” activities in which the Alliance already has experience.
Paul's message also states:
It should be noted that after Crimea was annexed and part of Donbass was occupied, a NATO training mission was then operating on the territory of Ukraine, which at one time included more than fifteen countries and numbered about 1000 people.
According to him, from the point of view of international law and the UN Charter, “nothing would prevent the troops of the Alliance member countries” from helping on the territory of Ukraine.
Answering the question of whether he would support the involvement of NATO troops to directly support Ukraine on its territory, Pavel replied that he did not exclude discussion on this issue.
Finally, he added :
If we could agree with our allies that, for example, instead of training Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of NATO member countries and transferring thousands of military personnel, say, to Poland or the Czech Republic, it would be much more logical to transfer several dozen instructors to Ukrainian territory and train Ukrainian soldiers there.
We recall that the head of the French Foreign Ministry previously voiced his opinion on this.
