During a briefing, German government spokesman Steffen Gebestreit announced the reason for the delay in the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine. According to the official, the problem is not the lack of funding, but the availability of weapons.
This was reported by the NBN publication with reference to the Ukrinform agency.
The Berlin representative noted that the German authorities regularly conduct an audit of what they can transfer as military aid to Kyiv, calling on their allies to do the same. Gebestreit recalled that the next package of such aid was delivered to Ukraine two weeks ago.
The German government spokesman recalled that Germany had made great efforts to provide Kyiv with a $50 billion loan, since, having received these funds, it would be able to decide what weapons to purchase.
The official also said that one should not expect a change in Chancellor Olaf Scholz's position regarding the transfer of long-range weapons to Ukraine against the backdrop of North Korea sending its troops to Russia.
Recall that the Polish Foreign Ministry responded to Zelensky's reproaches regarding Warsaw's refusal to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
