As reported by NBN with reference to the Forbes-Ukraine material, the head of the parliamentary committee on budget issues, MP Roksolana Pidlasa, made a statement: the procedure for calculating “Chernobyl pensions” will soon be revised in accordance with the standards prescribed in the draft State Budget for 2025.
According to Pidlasa, a problem has formed in Ukraine concerning the appearance of “new settlers” in the Chernobyl zone (near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant), who are “knocking out” for themselves an increase in the amount of state support through the courts: we are talking about 138,000 court decisions, according to which the authorities must pay 15 billion hryvnia.
The people's representative emphasized that there is no confirming information regarding whether the above-described category of the population is actually moving to the Chernobyl zone or is simply re-registering in this area (“eight people at one address”), that is, the requirement to assign “Chernobyl” payments through the court has practically become a “business scheme”.
Pidlasa summed up:
We propose to limit this process: Chernobyl pensions will be paid to people registered in these territories from 1986 to 1993.
