In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Simoroz spoke about the priorities of the Kremlin dictator for the period before Donald Trump takes office as US President in January next year, reports “NBN”.
According to the expert, Putin's main goal before the Republican's inauguration is to achieve as much progress as possible in eastern Ukraine, where the Russian Armed Forces are actively advancing. These territorial gains will correspond to the Russian leader's statements in 2022 about the goal of the so-called “SVO” – to “liberate” the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The lawyer believes that in the context of possible negotiations mediated by the White House, the head of the Kremlin would like to inform the Russians about the fulfillment of the territorial goals of the “special operation”.
The war veteran believes that the Kursk region could become a “bargaining chip” in the negotiations. It is possible that a territorial exchange will be proposed – Moscow will restore control over the border region of the Russian Federation, and Kyiv will get back some of the captured regions.
Simoroz recalled that the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region is small, in addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces do not control strategic objects or cities in this territory.
However, an agreement will be signed during the negotiations, according to which the Ukrainian Armed Forces can leave the border region of Russia and enter a certain territory of Ukraine, which was previously controlled by Putin's troops.
Earlier, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko named Putin's priorities in the war against Ukraine.
