The Euractiv publication writes that diplomats from the European Union are worried because of the scenario in which the 47th US President will be inclined to hold bilateral talks with the Russian leader “over the heads of the Europeans”, NBN reports.
Journalists note that the Europeans want to have a seat at the negotiating table, but risk getting only a folding chair. They will have to make sure that they are not excluded from this process just a week before Trump's inauguration.
The article notes that a quick ceasefire and signing of a peace agreement, as Kiev is convinced, could have a high price. Therefore, the head of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky does not support such a rapid development of events. His opinion is shared by other European leaders, in addition to the leadership of Slovakia and Hungary, since the Kremlin dictator has not signaled his readiness for dialogue.
The media quotes the head of the Estonian government Kristen Michal, who expressed confidence that the exclusion of Europe from decisions on Ukraine by the newly elected American leader will be “almost impossible”.
