US President Donald Trump called North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un a “smart guy” and announced his intention to restore relations with him.

The American leader, in an interview with Fox News, said that he would contact the head of the DPRK. The US President noted that Putin's ally “is not a religious fanatic,” calling him “a smart guy,” the NBN publication writes, citing the Japanese news agency Kyodo.
Journalists recalled that the head of America has repeatedly said that he had good relations with the North Korean dictator during his first presidency. Following the failure of nuclear talks between Washington and Pyongyang in 2019, Trump has expressed several times his desire to resume diplomacy with the DPRK.
The media recalled that after taking office as US President on January 20, the Republican described North Korea as a “nuclear state” and said that Kim Jong-un should be glad to see him return to the White House.
Last year, after Trump won the election, sources reported that he was considering holding personal talks with the head of the DPRK in order to find a solution to the crisis on the Korean Peninsula.
Recall that the Kremlin said that the Russian dictator was ready for talks with the US President.
