As reported by NBN with reference to the material of the UNIAN agency, according to the observations of the analyst of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UKAB) association Maksym Gopka, during January, the cost of potatoes in large retail chains of Ukraine increased, on average, by 2-3 hryvnia, and now fluctuates in the range from 34 to 36 hryvnia per kilogram.
Based on Gopka’s words, to a significant extent, price tags for potatoes may be adjusted no earlier than the arrival of spring, during the period from March to April.
In particular, this vegetable will become cheaper if Ukraine manages to import cheaper imported agricultural products (in comparison with the goods that are “lying” on supermarket shelves at the current moment), but if the situation does not change, then in the first quarter of spring, from March to April, Ukrainians will see the cost of potatoes at an average level, from 38 to 39 hryvnia per kilogram.
It should be noted that in January the cost of vegetables in Ukraine continues to grow, despite rapid deterioration in the quality of the harvest, stored in storage facilities since autumn.
