The Swedish Defense Ministry told Delfi that there is no delay in sending the ASC890 airborne early warning and control aircraft to Ukraine. They clarified that the delivery dates are related to the preparation of certain modifications of the F-16 fighters.
In May last year, the country's Defense Minister Paul Junson reported that Stockholm would transfer two such aircraft to Kyiv, NBN reports.
As the Swedish MoD explained, the ministry is working according to the original schedule. However, for security reasons, the defense department did not disclose to journalists “when and where certain actions took place or will take place.”
Recall that, as reported by Defence Express, NATO sees no point in transferring Swedish Gripen fighters to Ukraine. The Chief of the General Staff of the Netherlands explained the North Atlantic Alliance's refusal to supply such equipment.
