As NBN reports with reference to the April “Macroeconomic and Monetary Review” posted on the official website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), analysts have recorded a further increase in consumer prices for food products.
During February, the level of consumer inflation in the “food sector” predictably rose to 13.4 percent. Also, according to the published infographic, the annual inflation rate during March exceeded the 14 percent mark.
Based on NBU data, the key factors that triggered the acceleration of inflation were the rise in the cost of raw and processed food products, caused by the critically small volume of last year's harvests, a further increase in business sector expenses, including wages and energy costs, as well as the continued rather lively consumer demand in this segment.
