Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyy stated in an interview with LB.ua that the Russian occupation forces have actually launched an offensive on Sumy and Kharkiv regions, which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned about at the end of last month.
The general reported that the goal of the Russian Armed Forces is to create a buffer zone on the territory of these regions, as well as in the Chernihiv region, writes the publication NBN.
The head of the Central Intelligence Directorate clarified the military leader’s statement on his Telegram channel, calling for not confusing the words about Sumy and Kharkiv regions with Sumy and Kharkiv.
According to him, the invaders have indeed been active in these regions for a long time. However, it is impossible to talk about the offensive of the army of the aggressor country on regional centers.
Kovalenko added that the words of the military should not be twisted, but rather they need to be interpreted correctly.
As reported, Defense Express director Sergei Zgurets assessed the threat of Russian occupiers' advance on Sumy.
