Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that US President Donald Trump is growing impatient with Russia’s unwillingness to comply with ceasefire agreements in Ukraine, reports the Baltimore Chronicle with reference to The Guardian.

After a personal meeting with Trump in Florida, Stubb indicated that the American leader is considering implementing strict economic measures against Moscow.

US Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal are expected to introduce a new bill this week in Congress that proposes additional sanctions aimed at weakening the Russian economy.

Specifically, the legislation targets foreign companies purchasing Russian energy resources. Graham described the sanctions as “devastating,” emphasizing they align with Trump’s broader tariff policy.

Stubb also stressed that any decisions concerning Ukraine must involve President Volodymyr Zelensky directly. He underlined that Ukraine should remain central in any negotiations to end the war.

Amidst these developments, the US and European allies are intensifying diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region. A phone conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected soon and may prove pivotal in determining the conflict’s trajectory.
