The leader of Ecuador, in an interview with CNN en Español, said that his country would not transfer military equipment to the States, which in Quito had previously been called “scrap metal”, after Washington said that she could end up in Ukraine.

Noboa noted that his state “does not want to be part of this,” NBN reports.

According to the politician, the Russian Federation is the third Ecuador's important trading partner, in addition, his country “does not want to violate international agreements.” The head of state added that Quito would not be a participant in the arms transfer scheme.

Recall that Ecuador wanted to give its outdated military equipment to the United States in order to receive modern combat vehicles from Washington in return. In turn, the States intended to transfer “Soviet scrap metal” to Ukraine.

Noboa’s plans caused outrage in Moscow. The speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, attacked the leadership of Ecuador. A Kremlin spokeswoman said the country's authorities had made a “reckless” decision.
