The expert advises following some rules so that schoolchildren get the maximum benefit from snacks. In particular, foods high in protein (eggs, hard cheese, bread, nuts, cereal bars, etc.) should be placed in a child’s lunch box.

NBN reports this with reference to Facebook page of the Ministry of Health.

If parents prepare sandwiches for their child, Shvets recommends taking whole grain bread for them and not making too fatty fillings, giving preference to hard unsalted cheese, chicken, turkey, tuna or salmon.

According to the nutritionist, the student must be given vegetables (sweet peppers, carrots, cucumber, celery, lettuce or cherry tomatoes), and you can also add hummus or homemade sauce to them.

As For dessert, the child’s lunch box should contain fruits and berries, for example, blueberries, oranges, tangerines, melons, bananas, pears or apples. They can also be added to yogurt.

In the cold season, the gastroenterologist suggests giving schoolchildren canned or dried fruits as a snack. Instead of cakes, it is better to put cookies, chocolate or whole grain bars in your lunch box.

Earlier, Shvets explained why it is dangerous to lose weight with laxatives.
