On the night of this weekend, February 17, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, ordered the Ukrainian troops to withdraw from positions in Avdiivka in the Donetsk region in order to prevent encirclement, thereby saving the lives of the defenders.

About the fact that the withdrawal of Ukrainian army personnel from the specified city took place according to a plan developed taking into account various scenarios, including a sharp change in the operational situation, but not everything turned out as expected, writes NBN, citing information , published in the Telegram channel of the commander of the operational-strategic group of troops (OSGV) “Tavria”, Brigadier General Alexander Tarnavsky.
According to Tarnavsky, contrary to well-developed plans, in the final phase of this operation, due to intense pressure due to the superior forces of Putin's army, a certain number of our military personnel were still captured by the occupiers.
Now all relevant Ukrainian structures have been informed about this situation, which should turn to international humanitarian organizations and ;to mediator states, with the aim of ensuring humane treatment of the enemy with Ukrainian prisoners of war, in accordance with the norms of International Humanitarian Law, which will allow our soldiers to return to their homeland.
Commander of the OSGV “Tavria” emphasized:
We will fight for the liberation of all our sister cities.
