Legend has it that if you want to bring good luck in the new year, you need to eat 365 black-eyed peas on New Year's Day — one for every day of the year! You can also enjoy black-eyed peas, which are actually a type of bean, in a hearty vegetarian burrito or black-eyed pea dip loaded with cheese.

Green
It may seem obvious, but green cabbage — It is the color of paper money and is therefore believed to symbolize a prosperous year ahead. This is especially true when eaten with black-eyed peas (round like coins) and cornbread (gold-colored). Of course, you can also swap out the greens for any other leafy greens, such as kale, spinach or chard.
Bow
The Greek tradition of hanging a bag of onions on the door symbolizes growth and rebirth. It all started in ancient times, when people realized that onions would generate income. This was the main sign of good luck and fertility. So take some onions and use them in various recipes.
