Today, during the celebration of the Day of Unification of Ukraine, President Vladimir Zelensky announced his intention to submit to the Verkhovna Rada a bill providing for the possibility of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship for ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from around the world. According to Zelensky's proposal, the new law will allow having two or more passports, but exclusively for ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from all over the world, with the exception of citizens of the aggressor country.

In In particular, the new law will allow foreigners who are ethnic Ukrainians, as well as volunteers who are currently fighting for the independence of Ukraine, to obtain Ukrainian citizenship. The procedure for acquiring citizenship will be open to everyone who considers themselves part of the large Ukrainian diaspora or supports Ukrainian interests in the world.

Note that the idea of introducing multiple citizenship in Ukraine was expressed by the president earlier.
