Ukrainian writer Andriy Lyubka has won the prestigious 2024 Joseph Conrad-Korzeniewski Literary Prize, reports WomanEL. The Polish Institute in Kyiv announced the winner, noting his contribution to the development of Ukrainian literature and culture.
At the award ceremony, which was held by the head of the jury, Yaroslav Godun, Lyubka said that he plans to use the cash award to purchase a pickup truck for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, this is a contribution to bringing Ukraine's victory closer.
The award, which includes 5,000 euros and a six-month Gaude Polonia scholarship, is an important recognition for writers who strive to develop their talents and promote cultural and literary cooperation between Ukraine and Poland.
It is very difficult to receive the award after the previous laureate – Victoria Amelina, because this is an incredible and symbolic responsibility. To continue what Ukrainian writers are doing today – to serve not only art, but also Ukrainian culture and the Ukrainian people. To do what we know best, for the common good and benefit.,
wrote Andriy Lyubka.
This year, Oleksandr Mykhed and Yaryna Chornohuz also entered the finals of the award. Both authors received high marks from the jury for their work, but the victory went to Lyubka.
By the way, Andriy Lyubka's decision to use the award to support the Ukrainian army is a vivid example of how artists join the fight for freedom and the future of their country.
Recall that Serhiy Zhadan recently dedicated a new poem to the “Charter“ brigade.
