Mikel Arteta's team broke into the next stage of the European Cup in a very difficult confrontation with the “dragons”.
ArsenalUkrainian Alexander Zinchenko beat Porto in the return match of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. The main and extra time of the match at the Emirates Stadium in London ended with the score 1:0, and the Gunners also triumphed in the penalty shootout – 4:2.
In the first meeting, Arsenal without Zinchenko on the road sensationally lost to Porto with a score of 0:1, so in the return match Mikel Arteta's men had to make up for lost time.
At the end of the first During the half, the “gunners” managed to score and thus equalize the score in the two-game duel – in the 41st minute, Leandro Trossard shot perfectly into the far corner from the left flank of the penalty area after a pass from Martin Odegaard.
There were no more goals scored in regular time, so the game went into extra time, where the teams also failed to hit each other's goals.
Thus, the fate of a ticket to the quarterfinals was determined in a penalty shootout. Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice scored spot-kicks for the Gunners, securing the victory for the London team. The Dragons missed two of their four penalties – Wendell and Galeno missed.
Note that Zinchenko started the match on the bench and entered the field before the start of the second extra time.
