On Thursday, March 14, in Canadian Canmore, the final stage of the Biathlon World Cup 2023/24 started in the women's sprint.
Ukraine was represented in the sprint by four biathletes: Anastasia Merkushina, Irina Petrenko, Julia Jima and Kristina Dmitrenko. The fifth Ukrainian, Anna Krivonos, who was entered for the race, did not make it to the start.
The best result among Ukrainian women in the sprint was shown by Jima, who became 22nd. Petrenko finished the race 33rd, Dmitrenko – 41st, and Merkushina – 50th.
Italian Lisa Vittozzi won the sprint, thanks to this she reduced the gap to Norwegian Ingrid-Landmark Tandrevold in the fight for the Big Crystal Globe to 7 points. The second place was taken by the Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot, and the top 3 was completed by the Swiss Lena Hecky-Gross.
