At the 2025 French Open, Ukrainian tennis players set a new national record as four representatives advanced to the tournament’s second round for the first time in history, reports the Baltimore Chronicle.
Elina Svitolina, Dayana Yastremska, Yuliia Starodubtseva, and Anhelina Kalinina secured victories in their opening matches, earning spots in the Round of 64. This marks the first instance of four Ukrainian women simultaneously progressing to this stage of Roland Garros.
Previously, the record stood at three Ukrainian players reaching the second round—achievements recorded in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2024.
Marta Kostyuk and Anastasiia Soboleva were eliminated in the first round. A total of six Ukrainian players competed in the women’s singles draw at Roland Garros 2025.
