Ukrainian youth team (U-21)defeated Azerbaijan teamin the match of the 6th round of the group stage of qualifying for Euro 2025. The match at the Olympic Stadium in Baku ended with the score 0:3.
In the first half, Unai Melgosa's team hit the opponent's goal twice. In the 25th minute, the scoring was opened by Alexander Yatsyk, shooting in touch from outside the goal area after Ilya Krupsky's cross from the right flank.
In the 40th minute The “blue-yellows” strengthened their advantage. Oleg Ocheretkotook a pass from Maxim Bragar, in the penalty area skillfully dealt with the hosts' defense and sent the ball into the goal.

Thanks to the victory, the “blue-yellows” (18 points) regained sole leadership in Group F and are now three points ahead of their peers from England. Next in the standings are Serbia (10), Luxembourg (4), Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan (3 points each).
The Ukrainian youth team will play the next matches in the qualifying for the 2025 European Championship in September. Then Melgosa’s team will play against Serbia (September 6) and Northern Ireland (September 10).
Recall that 16 teams will compete in the final part of Euro 2025 (U-21): Slovakia (host of the final tournament) and another 15 teams that will join it based on the results of the selection (nine group winners, three best teams among the second place holders and three winners of the playoffs, in which the six second place holders will play).
