The Ukrainian national team in judo won two medals at the Grand Slam series tournament in Tbilisi, Georgia. The winner of the gold award was Yulia Kurchenko, and Elizaveta Litvinenko won bronze.

On the way to the final, Kurchenko defeated Kazakh Aruna Dzhangeldina, British Emma Reed, and “neutral” Russian Lyubov Orlova. and European champion Alina Bjom from Germany. In the fight for gold, Yulia defeated Goucher Stenghuis from the Netherlands.
Litvinenko defeated Briton Natalie Pavel and 2016 Olympic silver medalist from France Audrey Tshemeo, after which she was defeated by Stenghuis in the semifinals. Consequently, Elizaveta ended up in the “bronze” match, where she turned out to be stronger than the Chinese Ma Zhengzhao.
For Kurchenko, this is the first “gold” in her career at Grand Slam tournaments – before that she only had silver and “bronze”. This is also the tenth gold medal in the history of the Ukrainian team at this level.
Litvinenko won her second medal at the Grand Slam competition. She won her first award (also bronze) this year in Baku, Azerbaijan.
