Fraser Clark considers the Ukrainian the favorite in the confrontation with the “Gypsy King.”
British heavyweight, bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Fraser Clarkcommented on the upcoming fight between WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF world champion Alexander Usik and WBC title holder Tyson Fury.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian boxer will win. He believes that even an advantage in size will not help the “Gypsy King” defeat Usik, who already has successful experience of confrontations with another top representative of the heavyweight division – Briton Anthony Joshua.
“As for Fury’s injury, it’s terrible. You know, I changed after such a cut. I know that Tyson was out of shape in the fight with Ngannou, and now everyone is saying that he’s in shape. It may sound strange, but he’s in shape.” fit or just skinny?
I want Tyson to win this fight, but Usyk is the favorite for me. He's a really good fighter. People say Fury needs to use his size to beat his opponent. Anthony Joshua is a beast and how badly did he beat Usyk? Such a fighter will not stand in front of you and allow himself to be beaten like a rag doll,” Boxing Social quotes Clark.
The Usyk-Fury fight will take place on May 18 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The fight was scheduled on February 17, but due to an injury the Briton received during one of the sparrings, it had to be postponed.
To avoid another breakdown of the fight, the organizers established the sanctions that will be applied to Usik or Fury, if one of them does not enter the ring on May 18, the Boxers face a huge fine if they refuse to fight on the scheduled date.
The winner of the Usyk – Fury fight will become the first absolute world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.
The last “absolute” in heavyweight was Lennox Lewis, who won this status in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. Then the WBA, WBC and WBC titles were at stake. The IBF belt was recognized as equal in 2007, so the winner of the fight between Usik and Fury will become the first ever “absolute” heavyweight with four major titles.
