Only Dayana Yastremskaya continues to represent Ukraine at competitions in the Spanish capital.
Ukrainian tennis players Marta Kostyuk and Angelina Kalinina failed to make it to the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid.
Both Ukrainians started at these competitions immediately from the second round. Kostyuk (No. 21 WTA) lost to the Egyptian Mayar Sherif (No. 72 WTA) – 2:6, 5:7.
The match lasted 1 hour 35 minutes. Marta served out 2 times, made 4 double faults and converted 3/4 of her break points.
Kalinina (WTA No. 32) lost to American Caroline Dolehide (WTA No. 56) in her first match in Madrid – 7: 6, 2:6, 3:6.
The meeting lasted 2 hours 52 minutes. Angelina served right 3 times, made 4 double faults and converted 2/9 break points.
Earlier, Ukrainians Lesya Tsurenko and Elina Svitolina dropped out of the tournament in Madrid. The only representative of our country at the competition in the Spanish capital remains Dayana Yastremskaya, who will play in the third round (1/16 finals) with the third racket of the world, American Cori Gauff.
The match between Yastremskaya and Gauff is scheduled for Saturday, April 27.
