Sergei Bogachuk criticized Vasily, who did not say a word about the war in his homeland.
Interim WBC light middleweight world champion Sergei Bogachuk commented on a striking victory Vasily Lomachenko over George Kambosos in the fight for the vacant IBF lightweight belt.
The 29-year-old Ukrainian boxer expressed outrage at the position of his compatriot, who after his triumph did not say a word about the war Ukraine and its people with Russian occupiers.
“Lomachenko had a great fight. He just took Kambosos to school and showed a cool fight. In general, I’m not surprised by the result, because everything was supposed to be like that. I don’t understand only one thing – why Vasily is silent about Ukraine again? Perhaps he didn’t see it, but again, not a word seemed to be said,” Bogachuk said in a comment for Sport.ua.
Note that during the announcement of the winner, Lomachenko was in the ring with the Ukrainian flag, but did not mention anything in his speech about Ukraine and the war against Russia.
By the way, Bogachuk himself at the end of March defeated American Brian Mendoza and won the WBC interim world champion belt in junior middleweight. Sergey dedicated his victory to his homeland.
Recall that Lomachenko knocked out Kambosos in the 11th round and won the vacant IBF world lightweight champion belt. Now the 36-year-old Ukrainian has 18 victories (12 by knockout) and 3 defeats in the professional ring.
It was previously reported that Lomachenko commented on his spectacular victory over Kambosos and winning the championship title. The Australian also spoke about his defeat from the Ukrainian.
The boxing world admired Lomachenko's spectacular victory over Kambosos. World heavyweight champion according to WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF versions Alexander Usik has already reacted to the success of his godfather and compatriot.
