Ukrainian sabre fencer Olga Kharlan set a historic achievement at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Having won the “bronze” in the individual championship in sabre, the 33-year-old Kharlan became the Ukrainian record holder for medals won at the Olympics.
This is Ukraine's first medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the fifth Olympic award in Kharlan's career. She repeated the record of swimmer Yana Klochkova, who also won five medals at the Olympics.

In addition, Kharlan is the only Ukrainian athlete in history to have won medals at four Olympics – in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2024.
The 2024 Olympics are the fifth in Kharlan's career. Before winning bronze in Paris, she became the 2008 Olympic champion and silver medalist of the 2016 Olympics in the team tournament, and also won bronze medals in the individual championship at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
