WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk recorded a video message after his detention at Krakow airport.
The boxer said that there had been “some misunderstandings” and said that he was already free. He also thanked Ukrainian diplomats and personally Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his quick release.
“Dear friends, good night to everyone. Everything is fine, I am free. There had been some misunderstandings. I would like to thank the Ukrainian delegation and the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland.
I would like to personally thank our president, who was very worried about this and personally resolved this issue. Vladimir Aleksandrovich, thank you personally.
Thank God for everything and glory to Ukraine. Everything is fine. I am free, there is no need to crown me,” Usyk said in his Instagram story.
Recall that late in the evening of September 17, Usyk was detained at the Krakow airport, as evidenced by the video posted by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports, Zhan Beleniuk.
