Chelsea of Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk defeated Newcastle in a home match 9th round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Stamford Bridge stadium in London ended with a score of 2:1.
The hosts could have opened the scoring already in the 5th minute of the match, but Cole Palmer's goal was canceled due to offside after watching the video replay (VAR).
In the 18th minute, the Londoners still took the lead – Nicholas Jackson scored after a pass from Pedro Neto.
In the 32nd minute, the Magpies got even – Alexander Isak turned Lewis Hall's assist into a goal.
The Blues took the lead again immediately after the break, with Palmer scoring from a pass from Romeo Lavia. It was this goal that brought victory to Enzo Maresca's men.
It should be noted that Mudrik started the match on the bench and entered the field in the 67th minute, replacing Noni Madueke.
In the 82nd minute, the Ukrainian had an excellent opportunity to score, but the visiting goalkeeper Nick Pope parried his shot into the center of the goal.

Thanks to this victory, Chelsea (17 points) rose to fourth place in the Premier League. Newcastle (12 points) are in 12th place.
In the next round of the English championship, Mudryk's team will meet Manchester United away on November 3, and Eddie Howe's charges will host Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko's Arsenal the day before.
