The Catalans will compete for the trophy with the winner of the Real Madrid – Mallorca match.
"Barcelona" became the first finalist Spanish Super Cup 2025. In the semi-final match of the tournament, which took place on January 8 in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, the “blue garnets” beat Athletic Bilbao with a score of 2:0.
Hansi Flick's team opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the match, when Alejandro Balde's cross was closed by Gavi.
At the start of the second half, the Catalans managed to double their advantage. In the 52nd minute, 17-year-old Lamin Yamal scored a goal after a pass from Gavi.
The Basques tried to reduce the gap and even managed to score twice, but goals by Oscar De Marcos and Iñaki Williams in the 82nd and 86th minutes respectively were cancelled due to offside after reviewing the video replay (VAR).

It should be noted that the Spanish Super Cup is being held in the “final four” format, with all matches being hosted by Saudi Arabia. Barcelona's opponent in the final match for the trophy will be determined on Thursday, January 9, in the second semi-final between Real Madrid and Mallorca.

The current holder of the Spanish Super Cup is Real Madrid. Last year, the Royal Club in the final with Ukrainian Andriy Lunin in goal destroyed Barcelona (4:1).
