All the results of the athlete's fights from the aggressor country since 2014 have been annulled.
Russian heavyweight boxer Alexander Povetkin received a four-year disqualification for using prohibited substances.
This was reported by the press service of the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA).
The decision regarding the disqualification of 45-year-old Povetkin was made on the basis of data obtained by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) from a Moscow laboratory.
The boxer's suspension will last until October 20, 2028. In addition, all of his results from September 28, 2014 until the start of the provisional suspension on September 9, 2024, were annulled.
Povetkin has previously been disqualified twice for doping. In May 2016, meldonium was found in his doping sample, and in December of the same year, ostarine was found.
Povetkin last entered the ring in March 2021. Then he lost by knockout to Briton Dillian Whyte, after which announced his retirement.
In the professional ring, the Russian had 40 fights, won 36 victories and suffered 3 defeats. Another fight ended in a draw.
Povetkin fought for championship belts twice. In 2013, he lost to Ukrainian Vladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision, and in 2018, he was knocked out by Briton Anthony Joshua.
It should be noted that Povetkin publicly supported the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian occupiers. In addition, in May 2024, he was appointed deputy governor of the Vologda region of the Russian Federation.
