Yaroslava opened the competition year with a victory in Udine, Italy.

Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Maguchikh has triumphantly started the 2025 season. The current Olympic champion won the competition in Udine, Italy.

The 23-year-old Ukrainian won with a result of 1.94 meters – she took this height on her first attempt. After that, Yaroslava tried to jump 1.98 meters, but all three attempts were unsuccessful.

Liliana Bathory from Hungary won the silver (1.91 meters), and Idea Pieroni from Italy took the bronze (1.88 meters).

Maguchikh competed in the tournament in Udine for the first time since 2021. Then she won the gold here, clearing 2 meters.

Recall that last season, Maguchikh won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, won gold at the European Championships and silver at the World Indoor Championships, and also became the Diamond League champion, winning all the stages in which she took part.

In early July 2024, Maguchikh broke the world record in women's high jump. At the Diamond League stage in Paris, the Ukrainian was the first in history to clear 2.10 meters. Yaroslava surpassed the achievement of Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who jumped 2.09 meters at the 1987 World Championships in Rome.

Following a successful season, Maguchikh was recognized as the best female athlete in the world in 2024. Yaroslava was also recognized as the best female athlete in Europe in 2024.
