Ukraine's top racket Marta Kostyuk (No. 21 WTA) reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha (Qatar).
In the third round of the competition, the 22-year-old native of Kyiv confidently defeated Poland's Magda Linette (No. 36 WTA). The match lasted 1 hour 41 minutes and ended with a score of 6:4, 6:2.
During the time spent on the court, Marta served three times aces, made 6 double faults and converted 6 of 16 break points.
This was the second face-to-face meeting between the tennis players. Kostyuk defeated Linette for the first time in September 2023 at a tournament in San Diego, USA.
We will add that Kostyuk started the competition in Doha with a victory over Zeynep Sonmez from Turkey (6:3, 6:3), after which in the second round she sensationally beat the third racket of the world, American Cori Gauff (6:2, 7:5).
In the quarterfinals, Kostyuk will play against the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova (No. 41 WTA) and Canadian Leyla Fernandez (No. 27 WTA).
