Angelina Kalinina: “It was hard to play because of the weather-at some point I even stopped seeing the ball and just lost concentration”

Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina commented on her victory over Frenchwoman Leolia Zhanzhan in the first round of the WTA 500 competition in the Merida

#8211; Today the match turned out to be difficult. You grumbled well, but then it began to rain, and you had to wait for the continuation. However, in the end, you were able to concentrate and win this difficult match. What are your thoughts?
– First of all, I want to thank everyone who stayed here and continued to watch this match, because it was really difficult to play because of the weather. I seem to have crushed ten times! At some point, I even stopped seeing the ball and just lost concentration. For any player, it is difficult to start a duel and stop several times in a row, but I am very glad that I was able to turn the course of the meeting in her favor. Thank you very much for your support!

– What did you like the most in your game today? Your backhend was just fire! You controlled the game, but at some point you lost the initiative a little. Of course, a big role was played by the fact that you used the weakness of her second presentation. So what are you happy with the most today?
– I think most of all I am satisfied with the fact that at key points I managed to get into the court and play quite confidently. Some draws were really complicated, but I am glad that I was able to cope. At some point, I completely lost the rhythm in the second set. For me, the most important was – Return to the game and focus, because everything happened too quickly and clearly not in my favor. So I am happy that I was able to find the strength to return to the game.

In the second round of Angelina Kalinina will play against the winner of the match Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) – Daria Savill (Australia), which will take place today.
