Mika Salo sent fans into a frenzy when he shared a photo on social media taken in a hospital room in Thailand. He also posted a video of an ambulance with its lights flashing outside the hospital.
From his previous posts, it was clear that the former Formula 1 racer and his wife are currently vacationing in Pattaya, a resort town in the south of the country.
Finnish journalists became alarmed, but when they got through to Mika, it turned out to be a false alarm.
“I went to the hospital to get an EKG for a tattoo my wife is getting,” he explained cheerfully. “Annika wanted a tattoo of my heartbeat, that's all.”
After this, Mika Salo even published an explanation that he had been misunderstood, but at the same time added that he had received “thousands of messages” from different people who were worried about his health.
