Gabriel Olanrewaju has won two professional boxing titles A boxing evening organized by promoter Isaac Awankwah took place at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana. Light heavyweight (up to 79.9 kg) representatives met in the ring – Nigerian Gabriel Olanrewaju (13–8–2, 12 KOs) and Ghanaian John Mbanugu (13–1–1, 12 KOs). The fight ended in the third round when Gabriel took a punch from his opponent and fell to the canvas. The referee initially counted a knockdown, but saw that the boxer was not moving and began to provide first aid. Olanrewaju was taken to a nearby hospital, but died without regaining consciousness. The cause of death is still unknown – an autopsy will be conducted on April 2. The boxer has won 13 times in his professional career (12 by knockout), suffered 8 losses, and two more fights ended in a draw. Gabriel held the titles of champion of Nigeria and West Africa.
