Between April 13 and 15, matches of the 32nd round of La Liga took place in Spain. The fixtures proved to be decisive in the ongoing battle at the top of the league table. Real Madrid, currently leading the championship, shared points with Mallorca, ending the game in a goalless draw. This outcome allowed Barcelona and Girona to reduce their gap to the leader, reports Baltimore Chronicle.
The Catalan club secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Cádiz, while Girona, playing on home turf, defeated Real Betis 3-2. As a result, Barcelona now trails Real by 8 points, and Girona is 11 points behind.
The lower end of the table remains tense as well. Almería and Granada continue to occupy relegation zone positions despite their efforts in this round. Almería lost 1-2 to Villarreal, and Granada were narrowly beaten by Alavés, 0-2. One of the main surprises came from Sevilla, who earned an away win over Las Palmas with a 2-0 scoreline.
Among other results: Real Sociedad and Albacete drew 2-2, Valencia couldn’t hold on to their lead against Osasuna (1-1), and Atlético Madrid confidently beat Girona 3-1.
Following this round, Real Madrid remains at the top with 78 points. Barcelona follows with 70, Girona with 67. Next in line are Atlético Madrid (64) and Athletic Bilbao (58). At the bottom of the table are Cádiz (25), Granada (17), and Almería (14).
The upcoming rounds promise to be crucial in determining the championship winner, as well as the teams that will be relegated from the top division.
