Ukraine’s head coach Serhiy Rebrov commented on the 1:1 draw against Azerbaijan in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match. The coach emphasized that the national team is facing serious squad problems due to a large number of injured players, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Ukrinform.
According to Rebrov, fans expected a better result, but the injury situation had a direct impact on the team’s performance. He explained that on the eve of the game, Oleksandr Hutsulyak suffered an injury, which prevented him from participating in the match.
The coach admitted that criticism after each game is inevitable, and in this case, it is justified as well. He stressed that the national team has no room left for mistakes in the qualification campaign, but the players clearly understand their responsibility.
Rebrov also appealed to the supporters to stay united with the team during this difficult period. He added that despite the challenges, Ukraine still retains chances to continue the fight for a place at the World Cup.
