Ukrainian tennis player AngelinaKalinina made it to the third round of the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston (USA).
27-year-old native of Novaya Kakhovka (No. 33 WTA) started the competition from the second round, where she defeated former world number one Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark (No. 126 WTA).
The match lasted 1 hour 22 minutes and ended in a confident triumph for our compatriot with a score of 6:2, 6:3 .
During the entire match, Kalinina served through once, made three double faults and converted 5 out of 11 break points.
This was the second personal meeting between Kalinina and Wozniacki. Two weeks ago, the Ukrainian beat Caroline in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami with a score of 5:7, 7:5, 6:4.
In the third round (1/8 finals) of the competition in Charleston, Angelina’s opponent will be “neutral” Russian Daria Kasatkina (No. 11 WTA), who publicly condemned the Russian war against Ukraine.
